We open up on a wide shot of The OVO Arena Wembley, the site of the next IPW Adrenaline. The venue is currently closed and it’s quiet at the famous arena. There are but a few people walking through on their way through running their errands and what have you, but wait, what’s that there?
There’s something or someone on the roof of the arena. We zoom in to get a better look and as we do we hear.
“Spike mother fucking Kane.”
As we get closer we find the young El Rey sitting atop the venue apparently catching some rays.
El Rey: The God of Xtreme, capital X so you know it’s extreme.
The former X*Crown Champion flashes a cocksure grin and closes his eyes basking in the sunshine before elaborating.
El Rey: People keep warning me about the great and almighty Spike Kane. The man so sure of himself he won the XHF Championship just to toss it away and leave to the shelter of another company. The man who found himself in hell and earned his way out. The man who won the X*Crown in Fireside when the owner didn’t believe in him. The man who stands tall as one of the four Pillars of Violence. I’ve heard all the stories people tell about Spike like he’s the boogeyman of the XHF, but at Adrenaline we face for the third time in the ring and the boogeyman has yet to be the one to beat me.
El Rey smiles just a bit wider and opens his eyes somehow knowing exactly where the camera is even from this distance.
El Rey: Twice we’ve matched up before. In our first match for MY X*Crown Championship I may not have dominated you, but we both remember who was the one cunning enough to be declared the winner. In our second match up together we were paired on opposite sides in War Games, and arena more fit for your style than mine. Neither of us lasted to the end, but it was me who pinned your legendary shoulders to the mat along the way. Now here we are, facing once again. Will the third time be the charm for the legendary Spike Kane? As us zennials say, “X to doubt.”
The 20-year-old wonder let’s out a soft laugh at his own joke.
El Rey: I don’t doubt Spike’s skills, no. I almost made that mistake once already. I’m not afraid to admit when I was wrong. I thought Spike didn’t have the skills to work within the rules even with my father’s warning, but when we went one-on-one for my X*Crown he proved that he can be violent without wielding a weapon. The thing is, I made that mistake and still walked out victorious. Some people said I got lucky. That I baited him into a cheap disqualification, but at Oh Violent Night I walked into his world. A world of weapons, blood, flaming tables that put me down, and I still was able to pin his shoulders to the mat with no help from anyone.
He stops, again flashes that smile, and winks to the camera.
El Rey: I could have left it at that and never had to match up with you again. I had proved my point. I proved I could hang with the best. I proved it would take a truly extreme measure to put me down. You, though, just couldn’t stay out of my way. For weeks now I have been making it known to the world that the IPW National Openweight Championship was in my sights, but you had to step in the way and try and lay claim ahead of me. BULLSHIT!
El Rey’s face turns a bit read in anger, but he catches himself and takes a deep breath to get back to zen. The smile returns and he continues.
El Rey: That’s why at Heatwave when I overheard you stepping in front of me I knew it was inevitable that I was going to have to beat you once again.I knew Inhad to step in your way. Now, I know what you and the internet trolls out there are thinking, “you got lucky twice, what makes you think you’ll get lucky again?” It’s simple really, I have way more on my side then you do. Sure, you have decades of experience, but I have the advantage in youth, speed, talent, genetics, and with the training of Zoran I might even hold the advantage in Xtreme.
He pauses, a little longer than usual to let that hang in the air for a bit. He couldn’t really think that could he?
El Rey: You see Spike, I’m constantly changing and evolving, growing from day-to-day. You, though, you’re a relic that’s on the brink of extinction, and thanks to Zoran I’m not afraid to cut a bitch and put you out of your misery. So come Adrenaline when we walk into that ring you won’t be facing the same man who’s already beat you twice, you’ll be facing someone even better. Someone no longer afraid. Someone ready to make sure you never utter the words…
El Rey pauses staring long and straight into the camera despite the distance.
El Rey: …all bloody hail, again.
El Rey’s smirk fades. He looks purely serious as we focus on his face and the feed cuts.
