It’s not a great move to have a place where you can gamble be linked to youth sports, is it?
Cross scans his eyes around the press room as the room finds some humor in a very true statement.

Does this mean we can expect to see some Tap Out Wrestling style implementations?

They have a league system already, don’t they? Although, Jack Diamond might find himself in a mascot costume. Far better use of his Tap Out contract than it was sending him to win the X*Crown!
A bigger laugh comes at the expense of the Infinite Pro Commissioner.

Is this deal the reason that you’ve not been seen in competitive action since IPW’s First Contact event?
Cross smiles as he shakes his head to himself.
CROSS RECOBA
Far from it. When I grew up here there wasn’t access to these kind of activities for kids like me. High School football came with the provision of kit and there was no need for parents to have to finance it, this was different. It’s why I’ve allocated enough money to cover a full kit, transport and a football for every member of the league regardless of what their family’s socio-economic status is or what their gender is.

So, why haven’t you been inside a ring since you lost in your first attempt at defending the IPW Openweight title?
For a millisecond, Recoba debates showing any form of hurt from the reminder. Instead, he answers without further hesitation.

Training. It’s a foregone conclusion that my inclusion in the five-way Ladder match is going to be put down purely to a rematch clause. I went out and immediately threw out what I wanted, a ladder match. The issue seems to be that Long and Diamond, despite being on the best sports brand on the XHF Network, seem to forget is - wrestling is a sport first, entertainment second. The fact that they’ve thrown in so many different moving parts tells you that I’m in this match as a courtesy, nothing else.

The thing is, I thrive in Ladder matches and I know Touchdown does too but whilst he has been out each show trying to remind people to buy the merch and make sure they know that he’s still a thing - I’ve been in the gym, making sure that with every session that my cardio and my endurance improves. I’ve been watching countless classic Ladder matches so that I can hear that bell ring and know what the situation is at any one point and I’ve been in the ring, working out reversals and counters for whatever my opponents can throw at me. I’m fortunate I can do that because I know my worth. I’m not having to go onto every show to remind people who I am, to remind them of what I can do because all that Touchdown has done is drive down his value. You give the audience something that’s meant to be special or an occasion too many times? They expect it and see it as a basic part of the package.

But, like you said, there isn’t just Touchdown in the match.

No, but they’ve been included in my plans just as he has. Johnny Five comes into the match with almost as much to prove as I do and I feel bad for him in a way - he’ll be overlooked by the other three but that’d be foolish. The man might have ridden the coattails of Constantine in FIRESIDE but that just put him front-row to witness HOW Misha got where he did. If you think he hasn’t picked up a trick or two from watching him, travelling with him, then you’re asking for trouble. I’m eyeing him as the wild card for the match because he has probably the least to lose. When you have the prospect of multiple ladders, multiple stages of the match - a man with nothing to lose can match the best of us in the ring.
Another sip of water, a raised finger indicates he hasn’t finished.

Then you have El Rey and Spike Kane, both former X*Crown Champions and both people that Touchdown decided to go to war with. They’re here as much to settle that score as for the belt but they’re not going to shy away from gaining a title in the process. I’ve seen both of them at Global events and they’re not people that you’d ever write-off
What I will say about the pair of them though is that they seem overly-confident in their own way. For El Rey, I get it. At the age of twenty he can still say he is the youngest to ever lift the biggest belt on the XHF Network. The problem is that I remember feeling that way at his age and it’s great…until you realize you’ve underestimated a situation. Does he have the experience to dig deep when things aren’t going his way? Does he have the temperament to keep it altogether? Spike’s almost the complete opposite, he can feel confident but how did that fare at Supremacy when he faced Brad Kane? Was Brad’s win his last show of his talent or was it a sign that Spike believes his own hype a little too much? We’ll find out at Royal Crown.

I’ve faced hurdles like this before and come out on the winning side, I’ve been written off before and shoved every word down their throats on my way to victory. At Royal Crown I won’t just take back my belt - I’ll wear their sneers like a crown!
