“GET HIM OFF OF ME!” Jennie shouts, “Slow him! STUN HIM! Do something!”
The scenery fades in on something rather unorthodox… Rather than seeing a standard person in front of the camera, an animated tree is flailing their arms, or rather branches, into the sky as a green aura surrounds what is known as a treant, casting a healing spell on itself. There are three more animated figures that are chasing the treant down, but it is casting everything it can to root the enemies to their position while creating a gap between them. While they continue to run away, a sudden line dances its way across the screen and one of the pursuers is pulled out of view of the screen!
“Run towards me!” Tara’s voice is overheard.
One of the pursuers is suddenly stunned in placeThe treant turns, and the camera angle from the video game along with it turns to focus on the haunting figure in front of them; the treant runs just beyond the figure, and then stops and begins to cast healing spells on them as they fight the last pursuer…while in the background, another character suddenly appears on the screen but is quickly lost in a cloud of smoke as their health drains fast. Something pops up on the screen: “VICTORY”.
The scene suddenly shifts from this virtual world into the real one, where Jennie is seen sitting in a gaming chair with her arms raised overhead, and she claps her hands together several times in excitement.
“WE DID IT!” Jennie exclaims.
Footsteps can be heard approaching from outside of the room, and Jennie directs her gaze toward it whilst simultaneously reaching down to scratch the top of the head of her dog– an Akita named Pandabear– the first person to emerge in the doorway is Sabin, Jennie’s oldest nephew.
“I really don’t know why they ran out like that,” Sabin snickers, and shakes his head.
“Jennie!” Tara’s voice is further this time.
Sabin glances up, then back at his aunt, “Good games! But you two should get going, and I’m sure–” Sabin begins, but is cut off by a hand against his shoulder that gives him a gentle nudge backward.
Tara emerges in the doorframe this time, and has a smirk on her face, “You really should not have come out of stealth. The only reason they went after you, and they almost got you, was because you decided you wanted to play with them.”
“We won, didn’t we?!” Jennie retorts.
“Be that as it may,” Tara says with a sigh, “We’ll push the rating later tonight. I think we’ve put this off long enough… Get your stuff together, and let’s head down to the gym…” Tara says, and she starts to walk away but before she can get too far–
“Whhhy?” Jennie groans.
Tara comes back to the doorway, and now takes a step into the room, “Because we have two pretty important matches coming up that are going to solidify us as a team! In all my years– in all your years–” she gestures forward, “–we have never been teamed! We have never conquered a tag team division! And now we have this opportunity, Jennie, we have this opportunity to go into Infinite Pro Wrestling and prove to the world that, while we both can conquer on our own, we can DOMINATE as a team!”
Jennie twirls in the chair, and clicks her tongue several times, contemplating everything that Tara had said. Her reasoning; Tara was always the serious one of the two. She was always the one that had a plan, alway the one that was going to be ready and prepared for whoever was placed in front of her, but that was not a style that Jennie had particularly liked to do. Jennie was always more of a “go with the flow” when she got into the ring, and she would be resourceful inside of the ring, but never usually pre-planned.
Jennie completes another rotation in the chair before using her feet to drag herself to a stop, “Fiiine! I’ll go with you, and I’ll do things your way, but you also have to do things my way! I have some team building exercises that I’ve been working on, and I really think it’ll just help us bring it all together…” Jennie says, and gets up from her chair.
“Arena is not going to get us any better at teaming together inside of the ring,” Tara says, while also turning her back from Jennie.
Jennie follows in stride, but answers back, “COMMUNICATION! Synchronizing! Becoming ONE!” Jennie argues, “Just so you know, there was someone who put RAID LEADER on his resumé, and HE GOT THE JOB!” Jennie continues babbling while chasing Tara down.
The imagery fades out, and back into something else entirely; as opposed to being at the Blake-Docherty Estate, they now sit in an empty warehouse with a ring in the center of the dimly lit room… Jennie sits inside of the ring, with her head legs dangling over the edge of the ring, kicking them back and forth, whilst Tara is standing just a couple of steps ahead of her. Truly an image that would scream they’re about to drop the hottest hip hop album of 2023.
“After twenty-two years in this industry, there has been one thing that has always eluded me…” Tara begins, and licks her lips while maintaining her focus on the camera ahead of her. She takes a couple steps to her side, giving the side glance. Jennie just continues to look like a badass in the background, “The one thing that has eluded me is: TAG! TEAM! GOLD!” Tara boldly states, and then she maintains the pause to let the thought sink in.
“Twenty-two years in this industry, and I have gone into the ring with anyone… with EVERYONE that was placed in front of me, and the majority of the time: I would walk with my arm raised. I would win title, after title, after title, and my name would become synonymous with DOMINANCE! Synonymous with LEGENDARY!” Tara cocks her head to the side. The next silence allows those words, too, to sink in. “X*Crown…” Tara says softly, but with a fierceness in her tone, while also raising one finger as if to count some of her biggest accomplishments, “The first woman to hold it.” She counts a second one, “The XHF World Championship; the first… AND ONLY woman to ever be able to call myself the XHF World Champion since it was retired… in 2007…” She pauses yet again, but then pivots on her heel whilst starting to take a couple steps to her side, and resuming her own speech, “But my legacy did not end there; my legacy continues, and thrives, just by the sheer number of people that my name has been attached to through training! My own sister; my son; my daughter; I even had a hand in training the greatest star you have in the IPW.” Her lips curl into a grin when she mentions those details.
“I am not the type of person that is going to look at my opponents and think that they have not shared their own accomplishments to make them an equal threat… I am not going to say that they do not deserve to be in the ring with the likes of me, or even the likes of my sister, but what I am going to say is that my sister and I are going to be ready for a–” Tara is about to finish her sentence, when Jennie comes down from the ring apron, and charges the camera with an interruption…
“WAR!” Jennie exclaims, giving the angriest looking face imaginable. So fierce.
Jennie continues forward, taking a couple steps ahead of Tara, and Jennie takes front and center, “War, fellas. It’s never pretty! But it’s ALWAYS FUN! Y’see…” she says while taking a step back, and propping her elbow onto Tara’s shoulder and leaning against her, “This isn’t going to be pretty for the both of you because you have to think what this is about: TEAMWORK! TEAMWORK! And who better to team than sisters? Y’see the blue haired badass? That’s my sister.” Jennie gives an exaggerated nod.
“That’s the yin to my yang. The peanut butter to my jelly. The Pikachu to my Ash. The Sylvanas to my Vereesa… and–” Jennie waves toward the camera “Let’s just ignore the fact that Sylvanas went a little cray cray, but she still loved her sister, damn it! She is–” she stops and taps her finger on her chin, as if to consider the correct words, “She is like an assassin! She has hundreds, thousands, even millions of ways that she can surprise you, bend you, and break you in ways that you did not fathom! SO! MANY! WAYS! Now… What I’m about to tell you might shock you, but please, bear with me! You see us as sisters; you see us as close, and we are! But that doesn’t mean that we didn’t have our own fights…we’ve fought…we’ve fought before, and y’know, we’ll fight again, but NOTHING CHANGES! I know her. She knows me. And we know the most important thing that we need: we can rely on each other! I know that she is going to handle her job of getting in the ring with the two of you, and just giving you that cold– dark– glare–” Jennie adjusts slightly, as the camera hones in on Tara’s bright blue eyes.
The glare is not quite present… but Jennie continues to entice her to give the glare she is referring to, “The type of glare that chills the blood of anyone! The type of glare that freezes her adversary in place, as they search for mercy… but…” Jennie clears her throat, “Tara! TARA!”
Tara shoots the glare at Jennie.
“OH, THERE IT IS!” Jennie grabs the camera and brings it closer.
Tara rolls her eyes, and then Jennie takes the camera back to focus upon herself.
“When you see that glare, I’m going to go ahead and tell you right now: run! Tag yourself out! If you’re in the ring, take the count out! Because she is GOING TO HURT YOU! Mercy…” Jennie scoffs, “Will not be an option!” Jennie smacks her lips together, and her voice comes back to sound a bit brighter, “But while she hits you with the razzle, I’ll go ahead and hit the dazzle! She hits you high, I’ll hit you low, and you want to know something more? I… do not… care! I fight dirty. If I need to. Tara may give me that scold afterward, because it’s not something for her, but I do what I have to do! To win… FOR GLORY! FOR OUR NAME! The real question is: are the two of you going to be ready? Is IPW going to be ready– to face off against THE FENIX SISTERS!”
Jennie, again, aims the camera toward Tara but also slides herself back to keep herself in the shot. The traditional “peace” sign is held up from Jennie, as Tara just continues to roll her eyes…before begrudgingly giving the same “peace” sign with her hands.
Just as the scene starts to fade, it gets bright again, and Jennie fixates it on herself, “And HI, MYO! Congrats on everything! YOU DESERVE IT ALL! AND MORE! CIAO!”
The scene goes black.
