Mother’s Day was yesterday, and I think I made a mistake. At the Earth Day Gun Show I took on all comers and I took it seriously. Too seriously.
Once I got going, I just saw red. It didn’t matter who stepped through those ropes, I was going to keep my X*Crown Championship. I wanted to stamp my name in the record books as one of the greatest X*Crown Champions and I didn’t care who I had to destroy to do so. So when my Uncle, Dad, and even my Mom stepped through those ropes, in my mind, I had no choice. They had to suffer the same fate as everyone who came before them.
I had hoped that showing up at the XHF Rumble, defending my X*Crown in that crap shoot, would buy me back some points with my family. It didn’t work, obviously. So this is it. I abandoned ship in New Orleans when I didn’t feel welcome anymore and came home. Now I’m abandoning ship again. This time fleeing home because again I don’t feel welcome. My own blood, don’t want me. So I’m leaving, and I’m not coming back until I’ve earned their forgiveness.
“International flight 225 to Dublin, Ireland now boarding. If this is your flight please proceed to the gate.”
And I’ll earn their respect the only way I know how, by fighting my way back to the top.

Dublin, Ireland
We open up on El Rey as he sits by the window of his apartment staring out at the cloudy Dublin day. He speaks without looking at the camera.
It looks like rain out there.
A little rain isn’t going to stop me, though.
I came here to Infinite for a purpose, and that purpose isn’t to stand idly by and let the world pass me by. I came here because I refuse to let my trip to the top of the mountain be my only trip there. I know, I have to start over. That’s why I’m not here to complain about jerking the curtain on my first show here. Even if I am the most recent former X*Crown Champion. Even if I did successfully defend my Crown successfully 15 times. Even if I am the biggest free agent signing in XHF history. I won’t complain. I’ll start from the bottom, and that’s what you are Echo.
That’s right, I know your name. Even someone like me who has sat on the top of the mountain learns the name of their opponents even if they are insignificant.
Yes, I called you insignificant. Not because I think so much higher of myself than I do of you, but because you are. Look at you. You’re nothing more than a lackey while I’m a king. Also, what kind of name is Echo anyway? You get too into Hawkeye and think “hey, she’s a mysterious bad ass, let me steal that name.” Didn’t anyone tell you stealing names from Marvel characters is so early 2000’s? Just ask my dad.
El Rey chuckles to himself softly.
Jokes aside, I don’t know much about you other than your name, that you serve some guy you call a legend that I’ve never heard of, and that you have a decent skill set. There’s not a lot of tape out there on you, so I have to trust what I’ve heard.
It doesn’t matter, though. There’s no way a two-dollar lackey like you can stand up the those I defeated on my way here. Zoran, Spike, Dylan. Those names ring fear in the hearts of most of the locker rooms. Your name? The name of the man who work for? They hardly ring fear. They hardly even prick my ears up. So don’t be surprised when I bury you, because that’s exactly what’s going to happen, and there’s nothing you not your master can do about it.
El Rey stops, he continues to stare oh the window. Moisture begins to gather.
Looks like the rain has come. I hope you’re ready for a storm, because it’s coming for you and the entire Infinite roster.
