What is in a name these days? It’s a moniker that people would like to go by ideally, or it something that was thought of by their parents when they were born. But the thing with names is that they’ve always had a meaning. Whether that was to name you after a relative or friend who has brought some profound impact onto your family, or whether the meaning was supposed to be the protective shield on the child, names have always had a meaning. So we as wrestlers come into this scene with their names in mind. Maybe someone wants to be the next wrestling dynasty so they use their original name hoping that it would be the start of a foreboding legacy. In the same way maybe someone is from an already established wrestling family and using their name would bring on unneeded expectations so they make something close to their roots but not close enough that they’re being overshadowed by it. Or maybe their name is just something they feel very close to and feel it could help them in their career. Whatever that reason be there is a meaning behind every name. I’m not here to tell you the meaning behind mine or to dash your reasons for yours, but I am here to tell you something El Rey. When it comes to names there is nothing someone understands more than I the impact of a good name.
You see I choose my names carefully, cultivated to the point that their naming is something that brings power and expectation of what it will do. I don’t do it necessarily to the point of being prim or proper, but to the point of letting you know exactly what I am about. In my career, I’ve been known as King, a man who had taken command of different facets of the ring and made that his court. King as a title became something synonymous with me that people wanted to try and lop off my head so that they could make their own name. I’ve been that person and I’ll continue to be that person. It’s been awhile since I’ve been in the ring and still people are looking to take what is mine. Which is a title more precious to everyone then they realize. And El Rey as much as you want to bypass what I’m saying you’ve fallen into that trap as well. You’ve fallen into the trap that is Aren Mstislav and now it is a point of no return for you. Because at this junction you’ve realized one thing by now and it’s this. You can’t just pin me in that ring.
I mean you’ve said it yourself you’re looking to humiliate me, you’re looking to show the world what it really means to be King against the man who has been synonymous with the title. You do this on your own sense of pride, and you do it because it is the only thing that is keeping you going so far. You felt slighted, disrespected by someone you don’t know going around calling himself a monarch because you felt like he had done nothing to earn that name. And because of this slight it is an attack against your identity. And you’re not going to take that lying down. No you want to make a point, you want to show people that the one true king is El Rey. You want King to be synonymous with you and only you and that for others to call themselves any type of royalty you want them to come directly to you. You want more pawns to fall to your beck and call and that’s fine, but I’m just here to tell you that you’re not going to get the same out of me. I’ve fought bigger people than you in order to keep the title of King still sounding true, and I’ve fought people better than you trying to come for my head. I’ve done it all and I look to continue doing it all and it’s going to take someone a bit more heavy handed and bit more talented than a man calling himself El Rey to do so.
I’ll give you credit where it’s due El Rey, you talk a big talk, and you absolutely believe your own shit. But that’s about it. Believing what you say and being able to bring that to the forefront is very different and is something you need to exactly do in order to take me on. Because I want to get down to the very fact of something Rey and that’s this. I don’t call myself the Monarch because I see myself as a king. I don’t do it to bring some sort of legacy to my “kingdom” or to my “subjects”. No because I have none of that. I call myself Monarch, because I am the person you have to live up to. I am the person you have to compare yourself to for as long as I am in this fucking company. I’m not a measuring stick, I am not the bar used to justify if someone is fucking good, no bitch I am the Standard. I am what people need to be in order to succeed, I am what people want to be in order to make their name, I am what people strive to be so that they can finally make their name here. Rey, you’re just another one of those people swiping at my crown because they can’t handle being compared to me so they want to bring the standard to their level. They want that standard lower so they can continue to be mediocre but I am here to tell you that’s impossible. You either meet my standard or you can just leave the company. This isn’t going to be a battle of royalties no it’s going to be a battle to show if you live up to my standard, bitch.
